The exam fee for PTE Academic in Nepal is USD 248.60 in 2026, Pearson's own price for Nepal. That is about NPR 38,000 at the October 2026 exchange rate. Pearson charges in US dollars, so the rupee amount moves with the exchange rate and your bank's card charges. Always confirm the exact price on Pearson's official booking page on the day you pay.
This guide covers exactly what you pay, the hidden costs most students forget, Pearson's refund rules, how to pay from Nepal, and the simple steps that stop you paying the fee twice.
PTE fee in Nepal at a glance
| Item | Amount (2026) |
|---|---|
| PTE Academic (Pearson's price for Nepal) | USD 248.60 |
| Approximate cost in rupees | About NPR 38,000 |
| PTE Academic UKVI | USD 248.60 |
| Sending scores to universities | Free, unlimited |
| Retake | Full fee again |
The rupee amount changes daily. A difference of a few hundred rupees between two websites is normal. A difference of several thousand usually means service charges were added.
What the fee includes
- One sitting of PTE Academic at an official Pearson test centre.
- Your score report in your myPTE account, usually within 48 hours.
- Sending your scores to as many universities and government bodies as you like, free.
It does not include mock tests, practice platforms or coaching.
The full cost of getting your PTE score
| Cost | What it is | Typical amount |
|---|---|---|
| Exam fee | One test sitting | About NPR 38,000 (USD 248.60) |
| Bank and card charges | Foreign currency fees on dollar cards | 1% to 3% of the fee |
| Travel and stay | If your nearest centre is in another city | Varies |
| Mock tests | Scored practice tests | Free to a few thousand rupees each |
| Coaching | Optional preparation classes | From NPR 10,100 per week with us |
| Retake | A new booking if you miss your target | Full fee again |
The biggest cost for most students is not the fee itself. It is the retake. Missing your target by a few points means paying another NPR 38,000 or more.
How to pay your PTE fee from Nepal
Pearson takes payment online in US dollars. Most students in Nepal use one of these:
- A dollar card (prepaid or credit) from a Nepali bank that allows international online payments. Check your card's annual limit and that online payments are enabled before you book.
- A family member's international card, if the name on your booking still matches your passport.
- A Pearson-authorised voucher seller or test centre that can help with payment. Only use sellers Pearson authorises. A voucher bought from an unofficial seller can be invalid.
Full booking steps are in our guide on how to book your PTE exam in Nepal.
Pearson's reschedule and refund rules
These rules decide how much you lose if your plans change, so read them before you book.
| When you change | Reschedule | Cancel |
|---|---|---|
| More than 14 full calendar days before the test | Free (up to 6 times) | Full refund |
| Between 14 and 7 full days before | Not available | 50% refund |
| 7 days or less before | Not available | No refund |
Pearson's handbook and policy page word the edges of the middle window slightly differently, so check the exact dates shown in your myPTE account. More detail is in our guide to PTE reschedule and refund rules.
How to avoid paying twice
- Take one full scored mock test before you book. If your mock is far below your target, book later.
- Check your exact target per skill with our PTE score calculator. For Australian visas, every skill has its own minimum.
- Fix the biggest tasks first: Describe Image, the largest task in the test, and the tasks that feed two skills, such as Repeat Sentence (Speaking and Listening), Summarize Written Text (Reading and Writing) and Write from Dictation (Listening and Writing).
- Book when your last two mocks clear your target in every skill, not just overall.
- Book more than 14 days ahead so you can still reschedule for free if your mocks drop.
Is coaching worth it compared to a retake?
A one-week, one-on-one plan with us costs NPR 10,100, about a quarter of one retake. If coaching helps you pass the first time, it pays for itself. If you are already scoring above your target in mocks, you may not need it at all, and we will tell you so honestly.
When to book
Popular dates in Kathmandu fill up before the February and July university intakes. Booking two to three weeks ahead gives you the best choice of dates, and booking more than 14 days ahead keeps free rescheduling open. See where you can sit the test in our list of PTE exam centres in Nepal.
What to bring on test day
Your valid passport is the only accepted ID for most candidates in Nepal, and the name must match your booking exactly. A mismatch can mean you are turned away without a refund. Read our exam day checklist the night before.
