Under Pearson's policy, you can reschedule PTE for free (up to 6 times) or cancel for a full refund if you are more than 14 full calendar days before your test. Between 14 and 7 days, you cannot reschedule, but cancelling gets you a 50% refund. Within 7 days, there is no refund. These are calendar days, not working days.

Pearson's policy page and handbook word the edges of the middle window slightly differently. The dates shown in your myPTE account are what count, so check them before you decide.

How to reschedule

  1. Log in to your myPTE account.
  2. Open your upcoming booking.
  3. Choose "Reschedule" and pick a new centre, date or time.
  4. Confirm. You will get a new confirmation email.

If you are within 14 days, the "Reschedule" button will not appear. Your only option is to cancel (with a partial refund if you are still more than 7 days out) and book again.

How to cancel and get a refund

Cancel from your myPTE account. Refunds go back to the original payment method. If you paid with a voucher, the voucher terms apply as well as Pearson's rules.

What if you are sick or there is a family emergency?

There is no automatic right to rebook or a refund for medical or family reasons. Pearson considers these cases at its discretion, so contact Pearson customer service as early as possible with documents such as a medical certificate.

What happens if you miss your test?

A no-show is treated like a late cancellation: no refund, and you need a new booking at the full fee. If you cannot attend, cancelling more than 7 days before at least gets you half back.

How to avoid losing money

  • Book more than 14 days ahead so free rescheduling stays open.
  • Check your readiness at the 15-day mark. Take a mock 15 to 16 days before your test. If you are far below target, reschedule while it is still free.
  • Do not book on impulse. Use our score calculator and a mock first.
  • Keep your passport valid and your booking name matching it.
